Project description
In power lasers like the Megajoule Laser located at Le Barp (France) optical power is amplified by using flash lamps to illuminate the beam. For several years now, the CEA CESTA has been tasked with sizing the energy beds that power the flash lamps.
The aim of this project is to optimize the lighting of the lamps with the minimum amount of electrical energy to limit the thermal effects and make it possible to consider regular operation.
To reach this objective, the pulse generated by the upstream energy bed must be truncated and the current crossing the lamps must be short-circuited. Two circuit architectures producing two different types of pulse are under study.
In the frame of this contract, an engineer has been hired on a two-year fixed-term contract.
